Dr Ellingsen is a licensed psychologist dedicated to improving the health, development, and functioning of children, teens, and parents starting at conception.

Perinatal Wellness

Dr. Ellingsen specializes in evidence based treatments to reduce anxiety and depression during pregnancy and the postpartum period.

Children and Teens

Areas of focus and expertise include Anxiety, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Depression, and Chronic Health Conditions, particularly for Academically gifted and Twice Exceptional children and Teens (2e).

Parenting

Dr. Ellingsen provides support and consultation for parents with concerns related to parenting, relationship building, managing child worry and anxiety, anger, emotional regulation, and development. She has advanced training as an early childhood pediatric psychologist as well as decades of involvement in early intervention, child development, and disability research.

Kirsten Ellingsen, PhD, PMH-C

Dr. Ellingsen has been dedicated to supporting children and families for more than 25 years through clinical practice, research, community collaboration and consultation. She has provided psychological treatment at children’s hospitals, schools, homes, and community clinics. Dr Ellingsen has advanced training and expertise in early childhood pediatric psychology and maternal mental health. She works with children and parents to improve well-being and functioning, strengthen relationships, and build skills to better manage stress, anxiety, behavior, and emotions.  

Dr Ellingsen has presented at several state, national, and international conferences on child assessment, child health and disability, parent engagement, and early intervention. She has authored and co-authored various academic book chapters on assessment and The WHO ICF-CY. Academic work includes teaching graduate courses in child development and research methods, and leading a national research center for an evidence base home visiting program.

Dr Ellingsen currently serves as an Adjunct Faculty member at the University of South Florida (USF) in the clinical psychology program. She is on the Florida Maternal Mental Health Collaboration (FL MMHC) Steering committee member and volunteers as the FL MMHC statewide clinical practice workgroup chair.

Participation in therapy is collaborative with a focus on building strengths and increasing effective coping strategies while reducing challenges to positive functioning and full engagement in daily life.

Currently accepting new clients.

Currently accepting new clients in Tampa, Sarasota and Telehealth clients across Florida.

Sliding scale based on income ($100-$290 for individual 50 minute therapy sessions). Insurance is not accepted at this time, but a superbill can be provided monthly to submit for reimbursement. (*reimbursement is not guaranteed). A Good Faith Estimate for services is offered at the start of treatment.
